Intake Manifold: Installation
Ensure gasket mating surfaces are clean and flat. Install new gasket on lower intake manifold. Install 2 guide pins in opposite corners. Position upper intake. Install bolts finger tight. Evenly tighten bolts to specifications. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
- Ensure gasket mating surfaces are clean and flat. See ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS tables at end of this article. Apply a .063" (1.59 mm) bead of silicone rubber sealer on each intake manifold seal for the full width of the seal (4 places). Install new lower manifold gaskets on cylinder block and heads.
- Ensure gaskets are interlocked with end rubber gaskets. Install 2 guide pins in opposite corners. Install lower intake manifold. Install bolts finger tight. Tighten bolts in sequence to specifications. See Fig 1. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill and bleed cooling system.
