Valve Springs: Inspection

Inspect valve springs for cracks or damage. Measure installed height. Installed height should be 1.49" (37.9 mm). Measure free length and out-of-square. Maximum out-of-square is .060" (1.52 mm). Check spring tension at a specified length. See ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS tables at end of this article. Replace springs as necessary.
