Thrust Bearing Alignment: Inspection

Install dial indicator on front of engine with pointer on end of crankshaft. Pry crankshaft fully rear and zero indicator. Pry crankshaft fully forward and note reading. If end play exceeds specifications, replace thrust bearing. If end play is less than specifications, remove thrust bearing and inspect surfaces. Replace as necessary.
