Fuel Gauge Inaccurate

  1. Connect Instrument Gauge System Tester (Rotunda 021-00038) in fuel gauge sending unit circuit. Disconnect connector under instrument panel and connect tester to cluster side of connector. Set tester to "LOW" (22 ohms). If gauge reads "E" (empty), go to next step. If pointer does not move, replace gauge.
  2. Set tester to "HIGH" (145 ohms). If gauge reads "F" (full), go to next step. If pointer does not move, replace gauge.
  3. Check fuel gauge sending unit circuit wiring for shorts or opens with ohmmeter. If circuit is okay, replace sending unit. If not, repair circuit wiring as required.
