Testing With Fuel Sender of Know Quality

  1. Turn ignition to OFF position and disconnect wiring connector from sender and connect it to tester sender.
  2. Move float rod away from fuel filter against FULL stop position (approximately 145 ohms). Wait approximately 30 seconds and turn ignition to ON position. The gauge should read on or above FULL mark.
  3. Move float rod toward fuel filter against EMPTY stop position (approximately 22 ohms). Turn ignition to OFF position. Wait approximately 30 seconds and turn ignition to ON position. The gauge should read on or below EMPTY mark.
  4. If gauge performs as indicated, perform fuel sender unit test(s). If gauge is out of calibration at EMPTY mark, or both EMPTY and FULL mark, replace gauge.
