Scorpio (Warning Light)

Determine if warning light function matches that of gauge. If not, go to step 2). Disconnect temperature sender unit. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between sender terminal and ground. Resistance should be approximately 19 ohms on a hot engine and approximately 250 ohms on a cold engine. If okay, replace fuel and temperature gauge assembly. If not okay, replace coolant temperature sender unit.
If warning light is on for 5 seconds during engine start, replace fuel and temperature gauge assembly. If not, turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. Determine if high beam and light-out warning lights illuminate for 5 seconds. If okay, replace high temperature warning light bulb or repair open in bulb. If not, repair auxiliary warning module and/or circuit.
