Gauges & Instrument Panels: Testing: Gauges: Ammeter

Turn headlights on with engine off. Ammeter pointer should move toward discharge side of gauge. If no pointer movement is noted, check back of meter housing for loose connections, printed circuit, and multiple connector at printed circuit. If connections are good, replace ammeter.
