Description & Operation

The standard instrument cluster for Ford Motor Co. models consists of an ammeter gauge or light, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge or light, low oil level light, temperature gauge, and 4WD indicator light (if equipped). Models use bi-metallic gauges.

An Instrument Voltage Regulator (IVR) is used in-line with all gauges except ammeter. It controls and maintains an average pulsating voltage of 5 volts received by each gauge. To prevent radio interference, a suppression choke is used in-line between printed circuit and IVR.
