Brake Warning Light System
NOTE:
On models equipped with diesel engine, brake warning light will illuminate until proper vacuum level is built up by vacuum pump. Ensure vacuum level is reached before testing brake warning light system.
- With parking brake disengaged, the brake warning light should only illuminate when ignition switch is in START position or when fluid level is low.
- Turn ignition switch to ACC or ON position. If brake warning light remains on, there may be a shorted or broken switch or grounded switch wires, repair as necessary. If warning light remains on check for broken or shorted parking brake switch or grounded switch wires, repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition switch to START position. If warning light does not light, check light and wiring and repair as necessary. On Bronco II and Ranger models, depress float in reservoir all the way down, if warning light does not illuminate, replace reservoir.
