Fuel Gauge
Gauge pointer is operated by flow of current heating a wire-wound bi-metal strip inside gauge. Current flow is controlled by a variable resistance, float-type sending unit in fuel tank.
As amount of fuel decreases, more circuit resistance is produced, allowing less current flow and heat to bi-metal strip. This causes pointer to move a shorter distance.
