Speedometer Will Not Switch Between English & Metric
- If message center distance functions switch between miles and kilometers, proceed to step 2). If no functions switch, see MESSAGE CENTER test procedures in this article.
- Turn ignition switch "OFF" and disconnect message control module. Turn ignition switch "ON". If speedometer now reads Km/h, proceed to step 3). If speedometer now reads MPH, proceed to step 4).
- Disconnect 18 pin flex connector at instrument cluster. Check circuit 506 for short to ground between the flex connector and control module connector. If circuit okay, replace speedometer and retest electronics. If circuit shorted, service circuit as necessary and retest.
- Short circuit 506 to ground at control module connector. If speedometer now switches to Km/h, replace Message Center control module and retest. If no switch is made, proceed to step 5).
- Check circuit 506 for continuity between speedometer terminal closest to 18 pin flex connector and Message Center control module connector. If open in circuit exists, service circuit as necessary and retest. If circuit okay, replace speedometer electronics and retest.
