Steering Wheel & Combination Switch: Removal
- Disconnect battery negative cable. Center steering wheel with wheels in straight-ahead position. Remove steering wheel center hub cover.
- Loosen the steering wheel attaching nut. Turn ignition on. Pull steering wheel straight up to release from taper on steering shaft. Remove attaching nut and the steering wheel.
- Remove steering column upper and lower trim covers. Remove hood release bracket attaching screw. Remove sound deadening panel, cowl side trim, and lower instrument panels.
- Disconnect switch wiring connectors at turn signal switch, headlight/washer switch, horn, and at ignition switch. Pull upward on steering column tube. As tube/switch assembly clears the end of the shaft, remove turn signal canceling cam and upper bearing tolerance ring. Remove retaining screws and pull combination switch out.
