A/T - AOD Burned Or Slipping Direct Clutch

SUBJECT: FORD AOD

COMPLAINT:
A. Burned or slipping direct clutch

B. When driving at highway speed in fourth gear, you reduce the throttle opening and transmission downshifts to third; you step on throttle and transmission shifts back to fourth gear.




PROBABLE CAUSE:
Leaking rings on output shaft (front and rear), or worn transmission case where rings seal

CURE:
If transmission case is worn, it should be replaced, or have a new bushing installed.
