Intake Manifold: Description and Operation

The air intake manifold is a two-piece aluminum casting which provides mounting flanges for the throttle body assembly, fuel supply manifold, accelerator control brackets and the EGR valve and supply tube. Runner lengths are precisely tuned to optimize engine torque and power output. Vacuum taps in the manifold are provided to support various engine accessories. Cutouts for the fuel injectors are specially machined to prevent both air and fuel leakage.
