Intake Manifold: Removal

  1. Drain cooling system. Remove air cleaner. Disconnect accelerator cable. Disconnect all vacuum hoses that may interfere with intake manifold removal.
  2. Remove hot water hose from manifold cover nipple fitting. Remove engine oil dipstick. Disconnect heat tube at EGR valve. Disconnect fuel line at carburetor fuel filter.
  3. Remove engine oil dipstick tube retaining bolt from intake manifold. Disconnect and remove PCV valve from intake manifold and engine block.
  4. Remove distributor cap from distributor with wires connected. Remove plastic spark plug wire connector from valve cover.
  5. Remove intake manifold retaining bolts. Remove intake manifold.
