Removal & Installation: Engine
- Drain cooling system. Remove air cleaner and duct assembly. Disconnect negative battery cable at engine. Disconnect positive battery cable at battery.
- Mark location of hood hinges and remove hood. Disconnect upper and lower radiator hoses from engine. Remove radiator shroud attaching screws.
- Remove upper radiator supports. Remove cooling fan and fan shroud. Remove radiator. Remove oil fill cap. Disconnect primary wire from distributor.
- Disconnect wires from oil pressure sending unit and water temperature sending unit. Disconnect wires from alternator and starter.
- Disconnect accelerator cable and kickdown rod from carburetor. Remove air conditioning compressor from bracket and position aside with hoses attached.
- Disconnect power brake vacuum hose. Disconnect chassis fuel line from fuel pump. Disconnect heater hoses from engine. Remove engine mount nuts.
- Raise vehicle on hoist. Drain crankcase. Remove starter motor. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold. Remove dust cover from transmission.
- On vehicles with manual transmissions, remove flywheel housing lower attaching bolts and clutch slave cylinder.
- On vehicles with automatic transmissions, remove converter-to-flywheel bolts, then remove converter housing lower attaching bolts.
- On all vehicles, lower vehicle from hoist. Support transmission with jack. Remove flywheel housing-to-converter housing attaching bolts.
- Attach an engine lifting device to engine. Lift engine out of vehicle.
