Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Installation

  1. Make sure that threaded plug is installed in rear of camshaft. Coat camshaft lobes with polyethylene grease (D0AZ-19584-A or equivalent).
  2. Lubricate camshaft journals with heavy oil before installation. Carefully slide camshaft through bearings. Install camshaft rear retainer.
  3. Using seal installer (T74P-6150-A or equivalent), install camshaft seal. Install camshaft gear.
  4. Use gear holding tool (T74P-6256-B or equivalent) to hold camshaft gear while tightening bolt. Reverse removal procedures to complete camshaft installation.
