Auxiliary Shaft: Removal

  1. Remove engine front cover. Release tension from timing belt. Remove fuel pump. Remove distributor assembly.
  2. Using auxiliary shaft/camshaft gear puller (T74P-6256-B or equivalent), remove gear from front of auxiliary shaft. Remove 2 bolts from auxiliary shaft retaining plate. Remove retaining plate.
  3. Carefully slide auxiliary shaft from engine. DO NOT  allow distributor drive gear or fuel pump lobe to contact bearing surfaces.
