Ball Joint: Removal

  1. Remove steering knuckle. If tie rod has not been removed, remove cotter pin from tie rod nut and remove nut. Tap tie rod to free from steering arm.
  2. Remove upper ball joint cotter pin and nut. Loosen lower ball joint nut. Tap inside of steering knuckle near upper and lower ball joints to break spindle loose from ball joint studs.
  3. Remove camber adjuster sleeve. Place knuckle in vise and remove snap ring from bottom ball joint socket, if equipped.
  4. Install C-frame (D79T-3010-AA) on lower ball joint. Turn forcing screw clockwise until lower ball joint is removed from steering knuckle.
  5. Install C-frame on upper ball joint. Turn forcing screw clockwise until upper ball joint is removed from knuckle.
