2.2L Diesel

  1. Disconnect battery cables from both batteries. Remove engine oil dipstick. Disconnect air intake hose from air cleaner and intake manifold.
  2. Drain cooling system. Remove cooling fan and fan shroud. Disconnect radiator hoses from radiator. Remove radiator.
  3. Disconnect and plug fuel inlet and outlet lines at fuel pump. Remove fuel filter from mounting bracket. Remove fuel filter bracket from cylinder head.
  4. Remove engine mount nuts. Raise vehicle on hoist. Loosen transmission mount bolts. Drain crankcase. Remove primary oil filter from left side of engine.
  5. Remove by-pass filter mounting bracket and hoses. Lower vehicle from hoist. Attach a lifting device to engine.
  6. Raise engine until engine mount studs clear mounts. Slide engine forward and lift engine about 3". Install wood blocks between mounts and engine.
  7. Lower engine onto blocks. Remove engine lifting device and raise vehicle on hoist.
  8. Remove oil pan attaching bolts and lower oil pan onto crossmember. Disconnect oil pump pickup tube and lay it in oil pan. Remove oil pan from vehicle.
