2.0L & 2.3L

  1. Remove air cleaner assembly. Remove engine oil dipstick. Remove engine mount retaining nuts. Disconnect oil cooler lines at radiator.
  2. Remove fan shroud. If equipped with automatic transmission, remove radiator attaching bolts and raise and support radiator.
  3. On all vehicles, raise vehicle on hoist. Drain crankcase. Remove starter. Disconnect exhaust manifold tube at thermactor check valve.
  4. Remove transmission mount nuts. On vehicles with automatic transmission, remove bellcrank from converter housing. Disconnect oil cooler line retainer from engine block. Remove front crossmember.
  5. On vehicles with manual transmissions. disconnect right front lower shock absorber mount.
  6. On all vehicles, position a jack under engine and raise engine. Place a 2 1/2" block of wood under engine to support it. Remove jack.
  7. On vehicles with automatic transmissions, place a jack under transmission and raise slightly.
  8. On all vehicles, remove oil pan retaining bolts and lower pan to chassis. Remove a oil pump drive and pickup tube assembly. Remove oil pan from vehicle.
