Compressor, Electric Air Conditioning (EAC): Removal

When performing any repairs that involve contact with high voltage components or systems, the technician performing repairs on the vehicle must verify that the system remains powered down during high voltage repairs.
- This must be done by removing the service disconnect.
- The high voltage power down procedure must also be performed to ensure that the vehicle is properly powered down.
- The technician must know the whereabouts of the service disconnect throughout the repair.
- The technician must ensure that no one reconnects the service disconnect while service is being performed.
- The technician must recheck that the service disconnect has not been reinstalled in cases where the vehicle was unattended.
- Remove the electric motor trim cover. Refer to MOUNT, MOTOR, REMOVAL .
- Power down the high-voltage system. Refer to HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER DOWN PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the negative 12-volt battery cable.
- Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM RECOVERY

- Disconnect the electric A/C compressor (EAC) 12-volt electrical connector (2).
- Disconnect the EAC high-voltage electrical connector (1).
- Remove the EAC discharge fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.
- Discard the O-ring seal.
- Remove the EAC suction fitting nut (1), and disconnect the fitting.
- Discard the O-ring seal.
- Remove the EAC ground strap bolt (1).
- Remove the two EAC rear bracket nuts (2), and the EAC rear bracket bolt (1).
- Remove the two EAC front bracket nuts (1), and the EAC front bracket bolt (2).
- Remove the EAC and bracket assembly from the vehicle.
- Remove the two EAC bolts and detach the EAC from the EAC bracket.
