Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Test complete. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  2. CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL BCM DTCS 
    1. With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display DTC U1218-00-LOST COMMUNICATION WITH ELECTRIC CABIN HEATER as active?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE AIR ELECTRIC HEATER (AEH) 
    NOTE:

    Perform a visual inspection of all Air Electric Heater (AEH) components and connections. Repair any damaged components or connections.

    1. Turn the ignition on, vehicle in READY mode.
    2. Adjust the Blower Motor to be at a minimum 6 bars.
    3. Raise the temperature to read HI. Press Panel mode.

      Does the Air Electric Heater (AEH) produce hot air from the panel outlet?

      Yes 

      No
