Switch, Parking Brake: Removal

WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury. Refer to 12-VOLT POWER DOWN .
- On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power down the 12 volt system, Refer to 12-VOLT POWER DOWN .
- Disconnect the negative 12 volt battery cable.
- Remove the park brake lever mechanism (1) from the floor panel transmission tunnel. Refer to LEVER, PARKING BRAKE, REMOVAL
.
- Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, disengage the metal retainer clip (1) at the rear of the park brake switch from the groove stamped into the right side of the park brake lever base bracket (3).
- Disengage the plastic tab (2) at the front of the switch housing from the slot of the park brake lever base bracket.
- Remove the park brake switch from the park brake lever base bracket.
