Horn System (Service Information): Horn: Description
Dual electromagnetic diaphragm-type horns (2 and 3) are standard equipment on this vehicle. A low note and a high note trumpet-style horn are each secured to a dedicated mounting bracket. The horn and mounting bracket unit is then secured by a nut (1 and 4) to a weld stud on the right outboard side of the Front End Module (FEM) carrier, just below and behind the right headlamp. Internally the two horns are identical in construction, while the external horn trumpets are symmetrically opposite. The horn in the upper mounting location is the high note horn, while the horn in the lower mounting location is the low note horn. The two terminal pins of each horn are connected to the vehicle electrical system through dedicated take outs and connectors of the headlamp and dash wire harness.
Each horn is factory-tuned as a unit with the appropriate mounting bracket. The horn is serviced as a unit with and should never be removed from the mounting bracket. These horns cannot be adjusted or repaired. If either horn or mounting bracket is ineffective or damaged, the entire unit must be replaced.
