Shifter, Transmission: Removal
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Release the snap fastener (1a).
- With the use of a trim stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, release the retainers securing the shifter bezel trim (1).
- Disconnect the shifter bezel trim wire harness connector (2), if so equipped.
- Remove the shifter bezel trim (1) from the vehicle.
- Pull upward to release the shifter bezel retaining tabs and remove the shifter bezel (1).
- Reach into the rear area of the shifter housing (1) and press the retaining tabs on the back of the electronic stability control switch (2) and then pushing up releasing the switch.
- Disconnect the wire harness connector from the switch (2).
- Remove the trinket tray (1).
- Use a flat blade screwdriver or equivalent to carefully lift the locking retainer (1) up prior to removing the shifter cable from the shifter assembly.
- Disconnect the cable (1) from the shifter lever using a fork trim tool or the equivalent.
- Remove the shifter assembly bolts (1) and remove the shifter assembly from the vehicle.
