Section 61 (C510 Manual Transmission (Service Information) - 500): Removal

- Remove battery tray. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL .
- Remove air cleaner assembly. Refer to AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
- Remove front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL .
- Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Drain engine coolant. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE

- Remove both right and left vertical braces.
- Remove both head lamp assemblies. Refer to UNIT, HEADLAMP, REMOVAL .
- Remove the cooling system module.
- Remove the charged air cooler outlet hose from throttle body.
- Remove the ground strap from the transmission.
- Disconnect reverse lamp switch connector (1).
- Remove the concentric slave cylinder hose (2) and secure out of the way.
- Disconnect shift selector cable (1) from the lever.
- Disconnect the cables from the mounting bracket by pulling collar (1) back and lifting cable up.
- Disconnect the shift cable (1) from lever.
- Remove upper bell housing bolts (1).
- Raise vehicle on hoist.
- Remove the belly pan if equipped. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL

- Remove the cross car cradle brace (1).
- Drain the transaxle fluid Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove both halfshafts. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove the starter. Refer to STARTER, REMOVAL
.
- Disconnect the oxygen sensor wire from the loom/clip (1).
- Disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connector.
- Remove exhaust extension pipe.
- Carefully support the engine with a screw jack or the equivalent.
- Install a suitable transmission jack to the transmission.
- Remove the left side bolts (1) and mount.
- Loosen the rear transmission mount bolt (4) from the frame.
- Remove the rear transmission mount bracket bolt (1) and bracket from transmission.
- Remove the remaining transmission bell housing bolts (3).
- Remove the nut (1) holding the transmission to the engine.
- Pull the engine forward to gain clearance for the stud passing through the engine block.
- Remove transaxle from vehicle.
