Cable, Gearshift Control: Removal

NOTE:
The cables are serviced as an assembly, do not attempt to separate them.
- Remove the gearshift. Refer to MECHANISM, GEARSHIFT, REMOVAL .
- Remove the horse shoe reinforcement bracket.
- Remove the battery tray assembly. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL
.NOTE:
Pry up at the joint (1) and not the rod to avoid potential damage to the cable end.
- Disconnect the gearshift selector cable from the gearshift selector lever using a forked trim tool or the equivalent.NOTE:

- Disconnect the gearshift cable from the gearshift lever using a forked trim tool or the equivalent.
- Disconnect the gearshift cables from the mounting bracket by pulling collar (1) back and lifting gearshift cable up.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Disconnect the gearshift cables from the underbody retaining clip.
- Reposition the underbody heat shield and push the gearshift cable grommet into the passenger compartment.
- Lower the vehicle
- Remove the gearshift cable assembly from vehicle through the floor pan opening.
