Center, Power Distribution (PDC): Operation

There are two power distribution centers (PDC) located in the engine compartment. The primary PDC is located on the left inner fenderwell and connects directly to the B+ cable via a power stud located at the front of the unit, on the upper left corner of the fuse/relay block. The Auxiliary Underhood Fuse and Relay Center is located near the Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) on the left side of the underhood area. The Primary and Auxiliary PDC contain fuses and relays for power distribution and circuit protection.

These PDC's includes three types of fuses for circuit protection. A row with 14 MINI blade-type fuses is used for the protection of relay-controlled body electrical circuits. The MINI fuse current ratings range from 5A to 20A. A separate row with three MINI fuses is used to supply power to the powertrain control module (PCM). Two ATO blade-type fuses supply power to the blower motor (40A) and the power outlet (30A) from the primary PDC. A row with ten MAXI blade-type fuses is used for protection of the main power supply circuits. The MAXI fuse current ratings employed range from 20A for the ignition switch to 70 A for the electric power steering (EPS) system. Power from the PDC's is supplied to the body control module (BCM) through a 60A MAXI fuse.
