Pedal And Pad, Clutch: Removal

- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable from its post on the battery.
- If equipped, remove the knee blocker air bag. Refer to AIR BAG, KNEE BLOCKER, REMOVAL

- Remove intermediate shaft pinch bolt (2) and separate the intermediate shaft (1) at the base of the column from the steering gear pinion shaft (3). Discard the pinch bolt (2); it is not to be reused.
- Position the intermediate shaft (1) so that the pedal assembly can be accessed.
- Remove the two mounting bolts (1) from the support bracket (2).
- Remove the support bracket (2).
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Disconnect the supply pipe (1) from the master cylinder and plug both openings.
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- Remove the battery tray. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL
.
- Remove the supply hose (1) from the brake master cylinder and plug both openings.
- Disconnect the clutch start (1) and brake lamp switches (2).
- Disengage clips (1) on booster rod keeper assembly retainer (2). Position retainer (2) up to remove booster rod from pedal assembly.
- Remove the mounting nuts and remove the clutch pedal/brake pedal assembly.
