Diagnostic Test
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- CHECK IF DTC IS CURRENT
- Using the scan tool, read EVCU DTCs.
- Record the Environmental Data and any DTCs.
- Clear DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- Read EVCU DTCs.
Did the DTC reset?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
- Read EVCU DTCs.
Are there any other Park System DTCs set?
Yes
- Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
No
- Go To 3
- Read EVCU DTCs.
- CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
- Read EVCU DTCs.
Is U0103 set?
Yes
- Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
No
- Go To 4
- Read EVCU DTCs.
- CHECK THE PARK PAWL MOTOR
- Ignition off.
- Refer to MOTOR, PARK PAWL, INSPECTION
and perform the motor inspection procedure.
Is Park Pawl Motor stuck or jammed?
Yes
- Perform the Service Procedure for a stuck or jammed Park Pawl Motor.
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- CHECK THE (F893) 5-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- CHECK THE (F893) 5-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off. Remove the key from the Ignition Switch, close doors and allow the EVCU to shut down.NOTE:
Allow up to two minutes for the EVCU to shut down. Opening the vehicle door will interrupt the shut down process.
- Disconnect the EVCU C1 harness connector.
- Check the (F893) 5-volt supply circuit between the appropriate terminal of the EVCU C2 harness connector and the Park Pawl Motor harness connector for an open or short to ground.
Is the (F893) 5-volt supply circuit open or shorted to ground?
Yes
- Repair the (F893) 5-volt supply circuit for an open or short to ground.
No
- Go To 7
- Turn the ignition off. Remove the key from the Ignition Switch, close doors and allow the EVCU to shut down.
- CHECK THE (A988) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition off.

Disconnect the ESM C3 harness connector.
- Check the (A988) Fused B(+) circuit for an open or short to ground.
Is the (A988) Fused B(+) circuit for an open or shorted to ground?
Yes
- Repair the (A988) Fused B(+) circuit for an open or short to ground.
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 8
- CHECK THE (F920) FUSED IGNITION RUN/START CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Check the (F920) Fused Ignition Run/Start circuit for an open or short to ground.
Is the (F920) Fused Ignition Run/Start circuit for an open or shorted to ground?
Yes
- Repair the (F920) Fused Ignition Run/Start circuit for an open or short to ground.
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 9
- Check the (F920) Fused Ignition Run/Start circuit for an open or short to ground.
- CHECK THE (Z610) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Check the (Z610) Ground circuit for an open.
Is the (Z610) Ground circuit for an open?
Yes
- Repair the (Z610) Ground circuit for an open.
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the Electronic Shift Module (ESM) pins, terminals, and connectors for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace the ESM in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to EVCU VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check the (Z610) Ground circuit for an open.
