Cable, Parking Brake: Installation

NOTE:

The following procedure applies to either the left or right parking brake cable.

  1. Install parking brake cable through the hole in the body.
  2. Route the cable along the rear axle assembly, attaching to the retainers as it is fed to the rear of the vehicle.
  3. Slide the cable through the bracket on the rear caliper.
  4. Attach the cable end (2) to the brake caliper actuator arm.
  5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION .

  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Ensure that the parking brake handle (5) is in the lowered position.
  8. Attach parking brake cable to the equalizer (3).
  9. Perform parking brake adjustment procedure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  10. Install the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, INSTALLATION .
  11. Remove the blocks from the tires and wheel assemblies.
  12. Connect the battery negative cable to its post on the battery.
