Pads, Brake, Rear: Removal

NOTE:

Before proceeding, refer to CAUTION  and WARNING .

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

    CAUTION:

    Never allow the disc brake caliper to hang from the brake hose. Damage to the brake hose will result. Provide a suitable support to hang the caliper securely.

  3. While holding the slide pins stationary, remove the disc brake caliper guide pin bolts (3).
  4. Remove the caliper from the caliper mounting bracket. Hang the caliper using wire or a bungee cord.
  5. Remove the inboard brake pad from the caliper adapter bracket.
  6. Remove the outboard brake pad from the caliper adapter bracket by prying the brake pad outward until it clears the bracket and then remove the pad from the vehicle.
