Caliper, Disc Brake, Front: Removal

NOTE:

Before proceeding, refer to CAUTION  and WARNING .

  1. Using a brake pedal holding tool, depress the brake pedal past its first 25 mm (1 inch) of travel and hold it in this position. This will isolate the master cylinder from the brake hydraulic system and will not allow the brake fluid to drain out of the master cylinder reservoir when the lines are opened.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING .
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

  4. Remove the anti-rattle clip (1) from the caliper (2)

  5. Remove the brake tube nut and clip connecting the brake flex hose (4) to the mounting bracket.
  6. Remove the clip and remove the brake hose (3) from the strut.
  7. Remove brake hose connector (2) from brake caliper.

  8. Remove the two brake caliper guide pin dust covers and bolts (1).
  9. Slide the disc brake caliper (2) from the disc brake adapter bracket and remove.
