Seat Back, Front: Disassembly

  1. Remove the seat back frame, cushion and cover as an assembly from the front seat. Refer to SEAT BACK, FRONT, REMOVAL .

  2. On models so equipped, with the armrest (1) in the up position, firmly squeeze seat material inward far enough to expose the circlip (2).
  3. With the use of a small flat bladed tool or equivalent, remove the cir-clip (2).

  4. Lift the lower corners of the rear of the seat cover to release the hook and loop fasteners (2).
  5. Unzip the zippers (1) on both sides of the seat back cover.
  6. Unhook lower J-channel on bottom of seat cover.

    NOTE:

    High-back seat shown in the illustration, standard seat typical.

  7. Lift seat cushion and cover up together (1) far enough to expose the air bag wiring connector located on the rear of the seat back frame.
  8. Disconnect air bag wiring.
  9. Guide the air bag harness (2) out through the opening in the seat cover.
    NOTE:

    Vehicles not equipped with the round head restraint continue to step 21.

  10. Remove the head restraint (1) from the seat back. Press the release tab on the two head restraint sleeves (2 and 3) and pull the head restraint straight upward.

  11. Using a small flat bladed tool (4) or equivalent, release the head restraint sleeve retaining tabs through the openings (2) in the seat back frame.
  12. Using a soft hammer (3) or equivalent, remove the head restraint sleeves.

  13. Remove the seat back cover and cushion from the seat back frame.
  14. Remove the hog rings (2) that secure the seat back cover (1) to the seat back cushion (3) and remove the cover.
  15. If necessary, remove and discard the heated seat pad from the seat back cushion. Refer to PAD, HEATER, REMOVAL .
  16. If necessary, remove the air bag from the seat back frame. Refer to AIR BAG, SEAT, REMOVAL .
