Panel, Door Trim: Removal

WARNING:

On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

  1. On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power down the 12 volt system. Refer to 12-VOLT POWER DOWN .
  2. Disconnect the negative 12-volt battery cable.
  3. For driver's side, remove the power mirror switch. Refer to SWITCH, MIRROR, REMOVAL .
  4. Using trim stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent and a small pick/pry tool, remove the trim covers (1, 2) for the interior latch handle and door armrest.

  5. Remove the fasteners (1, 2) located in the latch handle and armrest.

  6. Using trim stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent and a small pick/pry tool, remove the fastener covers (3) located in the rear of the door trim panel (1).
  7. Remove the fasteners (2) located in the rear of the door trim panel (1) securing the panel to the door.
  8. Using trim stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, pry the door trim panel (1) at bottom and work up each side to disengage it's retaining clips.
  9. Lift the door trim panel (1) up to detach the inner belt molding from the door flange. Do not remove the trim panel at this time.

  10. Looking in from behind the door trim panel, disconnect the latch rod (1) from the interior latch handle (3).
  11. Remove the trim panel from the door.
  12. If necessary, remove the fasteners (2) securing the interior latch handle (3) to the door trim panel.
