Module, Body Control (BCM): Removal

WARNING:

On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

  1. On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power down the 12 volt system. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect the negative 12-volt battery cable.
  3. Remove the drivers side close out panel (1). Refer to PANEL, INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the driver knee blocker (2). Refer to AIR BAG, KNEE BLOCKER, REMOVAL .

  5. Remove the two fasteners, and remove the fuse box cover.
  6. Disconnect the four electrical connectors (1) on the front side of the Body Control Module (BCM) (2).

  7. Remove the three fasteners (1) that secure the BCM (2) to the mounting bracket (3); two on the top, and one on the bottom.
  8. Lift the BCM up far enough to clear the lower mounting point on the bracket.
    NOTE:

    It will be necessary to position the bracket downward when removing the BCM.

    CAUTION:

    Do not distort the BCM bracket in excess, when repositioning.

  9. Pull the BCM forward and down to remove from the bracket.
  10. Disconnect the two electrical connectors from the back, and remove the BCM from the vehicle.
