Condenser, A/C: Removal

WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Remove the electric motor trim cover.
- Disconnect and isolate the 12-volt negative battery cable.
- Power down the high-voltage system. Refer to 12-VOLT POWER DOWN .
- Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the battery coolant radiator. Refer to RADIATOR, BATTERY COOLANT, REMOVAL .
- Remove the front bumper beam.
- Remove the two screws (2 and 6) that secure the upper air dam to the radiator.
- Remove the three screws (3 and 5) that secure the lower air dam to the radiator.
- Disengage the retaining tabs and remove the upper and lower air dams.
- Remove the bolt (2) that secures the A/C liquid line and the A/C discharge line to the A/C condenser tapping block.
- Disconnect the A/C liquid and discharge lines from the A/C condenser.
- Separate the A/C liquid line from the A/C discharge line and remove and discard the dual plain seals.
- Install plugs in, or tape over, the opened refrigerant line fittings and condenser ports.
- Remove the two bolts (1 and 5) that secure right end of the A/C condenser (4) to the radiator.
- Tip the right end of the A/C condenser slightly downward to disengage the two retaining tabs (2 and 3) that secure the left side of the A/C condenser to the radiator, and carefully remove the condenser.
