Section 14 (Heating & Air Conditioning (Service Information) 500 - Electric): Description
This vehicle is equipped with Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) single zone Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system. See the Controls service information.
All vehicles use an HVAC housing (1) that combines heating, ventilating and A/C capabilities into a single housing, located behind the instrument panel. Based upon the mode selected, conditioned air can exit the HVAC housing through one, or a combination of, the panel (2), defrost (3) and floor (4 and 5) outlets. Once the conditioned air exits the HVAC housing, it is further directed through molded plastic ducts to the air outlets within the vehicle interior. See the Distribution service information.
The A/C system uses an electric A/C compressor, R-134a refrigerant and an A/C expansion valve to meter the flow of refrigerant to the A/C evaporator. See the Plumbing service information.
