Sensor, Temperature, In-Car: Operation
Air is drawn from the passenger compartment by the aspirator motor and flows over the temperature thermistor. The thermistor changes resistance with air temperature. The Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) A/C heater module receives the resistance signal and calculates the temperature of the air drawn into the in-car temperature sensor. The ATC system then makes adjustments to maintain the occupant preselected temperature within the passenger compartment.
The in-car temperature sensor is diagnosed using a scan tool. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
The temperature thermistor and aspirator motor cannot be adjusted or repaired and if damaged or inoperative, the entire ATC A/C heater control must be replaced. Refer to CONTROL, A/C AND HEATER, REMOVAL .
