Sensor, Evaporator Temperature: Removal

WARNING:

Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

WARNING:

On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the 12-volt negative battery cable.
  2. Power down the high-voltage system. Refer to 12-VOLT POWER DOWN .
  3. Remove the passenger side silencer panel. Refer to PANEL, SILENCER, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the screw (2) that secures the passenger side console closeout cover (1), disengage the retaining tabs and remove the cover.

  5. Remove the screw (2) that secures the driver side console closeout cover (1), disengage the retaining tabs and remove the cover.
  6. Remove the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) module. Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER, REMOVAL .

  7. Remove the two screws (1 and 3) that secure the cabin air filter cover (2) to the right side of the HVAC housing (4) and remove the cover.

  8. Remove the cabin air filter (1) from the right side of the HVAC housing (3). Make note of the air flow direction (2).

    NOTE:

    Illustration shown with HVAC housing removed from vehicle for clarity.

  9. Disconnect the condensate hose from the condensate drain (2) located on the bottom of the HVAC housing (3).
  10. Remove the six screws (1) that secure the condensate drain to the bottom of the HVAC housing and remove the drain.

  11. Disconnect the HVAC wire harness connector (1) from the evaporator temperature sensor (2).
  12. Disengage the evaporator temperature sensor from the bracket (2).
  13. Using needle nose pliers, carefully pull the evaporator temperature sensor and retaining clip straight out of the A/C evaporator (3).
