DECKLID/Hatch/Liftgate/Tailgate/Swing Gate: Liftgate: Removal
WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Open the liftgate.
- On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power down the 12 volt system. Refer to 12-VOLT POWER DOWN .
- Disconnect the negative 12-volt battery cable.
- Using a china marker/grease pen or equivalent, mark the areas where the liftgate hinge mount to the vehicle for use in re-installation.
- Remove the boot (1) and disconnect the washer hose/liftgate harness.
- Remove the B-pillar trim. Refer to PANEL, B-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVAL .
- Remove the C-pillar trim. Refer to PANEL, C-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVAL .
- Remove the coat hooks.
- With the help of an assistant and a suitable prop, remove the push pin fasteners from the rear portion of the headliner and gently lower the rear portion.
- With the help from an assistant, support the liftgate and disconnect the prop rods. Refer to PROP, GAS, REMOVAL .
- Remove the fastener (2) attaching the liftgate assembly (1). Repeat on the opposite side.
- Remove the liftgate (1) from the vehicle.
