DECKLID/Hatch/Liftgate/Tailgate/Swing Gate: Liftgate: Installation

WARNING:

On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

With the help of an assistant and using the reference marks, align and position the liftgate (1) onto the vehicle.
Install the fasteners (2) securing the tailgate (1) to the vehicle. Tighten the fasteners to 34 N-m (25 ft. lbs).
Install the prop rods. Refer to PROP, GAS, INSTALLATION .
Raise the headliner into position and install the push pin fasteners in the rear area.
Install the coat hooks.
Install the B-pillar trim. Refer to PANEL, B-PILLAR TRIM, INSTALLATION .
Install the C-pillar trim. Refer to PANEL, C-PILLAR TRIM, INSTALLATION .

Connect the washer hose/liftgate harness and install the boot (1).
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power up the 12 volt system. Refer to 12 VOLT POWER UP .
Connect the 12-volt negative battery cable.
Close the liftgate.
