Lamp Bar, Exterior Handle: Removal
WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power down the 12 volt system. Refer to 12-VOLT POWER DOWN .
- Disconnect the negative 12-volt battery cable.
- Reach under the liftgate handle and light bar unit to access and depress the latch tab.
- Remove the inner liftgate trim panel by removing the push pins (1).
- Disconnect the liftgate switch and license plate light connector (1).CAUTION:
Do not close the liftgate onto the latch since there is no power to the switch.
- Remove the four nuts that support the housing (1).
- Cover the liftgate catch so that the latch will not lock. Lower the liftgate.
- Remove the license plate lighting/handle housing (3) away from the liftgate (1).
- Remove the license plate lights (3) by inserting a pocket screwdriver in the access hole by the lights and releasing the locking tab (2).
- Disconnect the light electrical connector.
