Lamp Bar, Exterior Handle: Removal
- Open the liftgate.
- Disconnect the and isolate negative battery cable.
- Remove the liftgate lower trim panel (1). Refer to PANEL, TRIM, LIFTGATE, REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the exterior handle switch wiring connector (2).
- Remove the light bulb sockets from the license plate lamps.
- As a guide for installation, apply a length of masking tape on the liftgate, parallel to the top edge of the liftgate molding (2).
- Remove the license plate and the liftgate molding lower fasteners (3).
- With the use of trim stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, remove the center pin from the retainers (1) and then remove the retainer.NOTE:
The liftgate molding (2) is also attached with an adhesive tape.
CAUTION:Do not exceed 32°C (90°F) when heating the cladding or body panels. Failure to follow this caution may result in damage to the cladding or the vehicle paint finish.
- If the temperature is below 21°C (70°F), warm the liftgate molding with a heat lamp or heat gun.
- Using a trim stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick), carefully remove the liftgate molding (2) from the liftgate.
