Carpet, Floor: Removal

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
Remove the front seats. Refer to REMOVAL .
Remove the floor console (1). Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL .
Remove the lower B-pillar trims. Refer to REMOVAL .
Remove the cowl trim side panels. Refer to PANEL, COWL TRIM, SIDE, REMOVAL .

Working on the right side of the tunnel, disconnect the air conditioning condensation drainage tube (2).
Remove the fasteners and release the ground wiring (3) from the studs.
With the use of a trim remover (special tool #C-4829A, Remover, Trim) or equivalent, remove the carpet retainer (1).

Remove the foam (1) from the shifter housing.
Remove the fasteners (3) from the floor console mounting bracket (2).
Remove the floor console mounting bracket (2).

Disconnect the wiring connector (2) from shifter housing (1), if so equipped.
Disconnect the wiring connector (4) from the parking brake (3) switch.
Release the wiring harness routing clips (5).

Working on the left side of the tunnel, turn the accelerator pedal block (2) counterclockwise and remove.
With the use of trim remover (special tool #C-4829A, Remover, Trim) or equivalent, remove the carpet retainer (1).

Unfasten the wiring harness routing clips (1).
Position the wiring harness away from the cut line (2).
With the use of a utility knife or equivalent, cut the carpet along the cut line (2).
Raise the front edge of the rear carpet and untuck the front carpet from beneath the rear carpet.
Remove the front carpet from the vehicle.
