Panel, Instrument: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the steering column. Refer to COLUMN, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the radio and radio controls. Refer to RADIO, REMOVAL .

  5. Remove the fastener (2) from the driver side instrument panel bezel (1).
  6. Using a Trim Stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, release the retaining clips and remove.
  7. Remove the four screws that secure the instrument cluster mounting tabs to the instrument panel.
  8. Tilt the top of the instrument cluster back and lift it upward far enough to access and disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector, and remove.

  9. Open the glove box door (2).
  10. Using a Trim Stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, release right instrument panel end cap (1) retaining clips and remove the end cap (1).

  11. Open the upper storage bin door (1). Remove the fasteners (2) and the upper storage bin door.

  12. Remove the fastener (1) located on the right side of the upper storage bin door opening.

  13. Remove the fasteners (3) from the lower instrument panel bezel (2).
  14. Using a Trim Stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, release the retaining clips and remove the lower instrument panel bezel.

  15. Using a Trim Stick (special tool #C-4755, Trim Stick) or equivalent, remove the center instrument panel bezel (1).

  16. Remove the two upper fasteners (1) from the HVAC control bezel.

  17. Remove the lower fastener (2).
  18. Pull rearward on the bezel (1) to release the retaining clips.

  19. Disconnect the wiring connectors from the multi media port (1).
  20. Remove the HVAC control bezel (2) from the vehicle.
  21. Remove the heating and air conditioning control. Refer to CONTROL, A/C AND HEATER, REMOVAL .

  22. Remove the fasteners (1) from the glove box assembly (2).

  23. Disconnect the glove box light switch (3) wiring connector.
  24. Rotate the glove box assembly (1) rearward and downwards until it is released from the crossmember (2).
  25. Remove the glove box assembly (1).

  26. Remove the fasteners (2) from the left side of the instrument panel cover (1).
  27. Release the wiring harness retainers (4) for the radio and antenna connections.
  28. Release the wiring harness retainers (3) in the cluster area.

  30. Disconnect the passenger side air bag wiring connector (1).
  31. Remove the passenger air bag bracket fasteners (2).

  32. Within the upper storage bin, remove the air flow adjustment knob (2), with an appropriate tool.
  33. With the use of a small flat bladed tool, release the retainers (1) for the air flow tube.

  34. With the help of an assistant, move the instrument panel cover (3) rearward, releasing the front guides (1) and side guides (2).

  35. Remove the instrument panel cover (1) from the vehicle.
  36. If necessary, remove the passenger airbag from the instrument panel. Refer to AIR BAG, PASSENGER, REMOVAL .
