Lever, Parking Brake: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Block the tire and wheel assemblies so the vehicle does not move once the vehicle parking brake lever is released.
  3. Remove the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL .
  4. Position parking brake boot (1) so that the mounting bolts and switch can be accessed.
  5. Release and lower the parking brake lever (5).
  6. Loosen the adjusting nut (4) on the equalizer and disconnect the brake actuation cables from the equalizer.
  7. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (6) from the parking brake switch.
  8. Remove the bolts (2) attaching the parking brake lever (5) to the vehicle.
  9. Remove the parking brake lever (5).
