Rail, Side: Installation
- Position the folding top side rail (1) to the vehicle and insert opposite side bowden cable and carefully slide down onto the tubes (2).
- Replace exterior rear rivet (2) with an 5 mm (3/16 in.) size screw.
- Position the folding top slide bracket (1) to the frame and rail.
- Due to the limited rivet gun tip access behind the folding top slide bracket it will be necessary to use spacers (3) between the rivet gun tip (1) and the rivet head (2) when installing the two rivets into the folding top slide bracket, frame and rail.NOTE:
The spacers (3) will fill the gap between rivet gun tip (1) and rivet head (2) to make certain the rivet head seats firmly against the folding top slide bracket. Recover the spacers as the rivets are installed.
- Install the two rivets to the folding top slide bracket.
- Position the side curtain air bag bracket (1), and install the nut (2). Tighten the nut to 6 Nm (54 lbf-in).
- Install the next two forward rivets and spacers.NOTE:
Make certain the spacers are in place that were removed during removal process.
NOTE:Do not install the front nine rivets at this time. The front nine rivets will be installed during the drive cable installation.
- Lift the rail (1) and wedge a 0.5" x 2" in block of wood (2) or equivalent, under the rail.
- Install the folding top drive cable. Refer to CABLE, INSTALLATION .
- Install the folding top cover. Refer to COVER, HEADER, INSTALLATION .
