Fan, Cooling: Removal

NOTE:

The cooling fan must be removed from the bottom of the vehicle.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain out enough coolant to bring the level below the pump.
  3. Remove the engine cover and the air intake assembly (1).

  4. ABARTH ONLY:  Disconnect the two vacuum fittings (4), loosen the clamp (3) at the air to turbocharger inlet tube.
  5. ABARTH ONLY:  Disconnect the fresh air intake hose (2).
  6. ABARTH ONLY:  Remove the air cleaner assembly (1).

  7. Disconnect the cooling fan resistor (1) harness connector at the cooling fan (2).

  8. Disconnect the cooling fan harness connector (3).
    NOTE:

    Do not remove the cooling fan from the lower mounting tabs at this time.

  9. Remove the upper cooling fan (2) mounting bolts (4).
  10. Raise and support the vehicle.
  11. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL .

  12. Remove the upper (4) and lower (3) air seals.
  13. Remove the front bumper support beam (1).
  14. Support the radiator and the A/C condenser with a suitable fixture.

  15. ABARTH ONLY: 

    Disconnect the turbocharger outlet hose (2) at the lower quick connect located behind the cooling fan (3).

  16. ABARTH ONLY: 

    Disconnect the right intercooler quick connect (1).

  17. ABARTH ONLY: 

    Disconnect the left intercooler quick connect.

  18. ABARTH ONLY: 

    Remove the bolts that secure the tube to the lower core support and remove the tube assembly. This will allow for clearance when lowering the fan module out of the vehicle.

  19. Remove the lower radiator support brackets (2).
  20. Use care when positioning the radiator and the A/C condenser aside.
  21. Remove the cooling fan from the lower mounting tabs located on the radiator.
  22. Remove the cooling fan from the vehicle through the bottom of the cooling module assembly.
